Quality Turf Underlay is a specially formulated soil mix designed to create the ideal foundation for laying turf or grass sod. It is a blend of Garden Soil, Washed Sand and Blue Metal Crusher Dust to improve soil structure, drainage, and fertility. Turf underlay is designed to be well-draining, nutrient-rich, and aerated, providing the optimal environment for grass roots to establish quickly and grow healthily.

How to Use Quality Turf Underlay
Preparation of the Site
Begin by clearing the area of any debris, weeds, and large rocks. Ensure the surface is level and free of any existing vegetation that could compete with the new turf.
Loosen the soil with a rake or tiller to create a surface that will allow the turf underlay to integrate effectively with the soil.
Application of Turf Underlay
Spread the turf underlay evenly over the area. The recommended thickness typically ranges from 50 to 150mm, depending on the condition of the underlying soil.
Level and smooth the underlay with a rake, ensuring it is evenly spread over the entire surface. Pay attention to areas where soil may be compacted or uneven.
Incorporate the Underlay
For existing soil, you can lightly mix the underlay into the top layer of soil to improve its structure and fertility.
Compact the soil gently to avoid air pockets, which could inhibit root growth once the turf is laid.
Laying the Turf
After the turf underlay has been properly applied and leveled, lay the turf on top. Ensure the turf strips are placed tightly together, with no gaps.
Water the turf immediately after installation, and continue to keep it moist for the first few weeks to help the grass establish roots.
Ongoing Maintenance
Keep the area well-watered, especially during the first few months as the turf roots establish themselves in the underlay.
